‘Unwatchable farce’ – Jake Paul furiously mocked by Piers Morgan over latest fight performance as row escalates

Jake Paul’s latest win over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr has been criticised by new nemesis Piers Morgan.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer had been embroiled in a bitter feud with famous journalist and TV personality Morgan before his latest contest with Chavez Jr.

Paul had stormed out of an interview with Morgan, after the British analyst criticised his victory over Mike Tyson last November.

The pair clashed and Paul went on a furious tirade, fat-shaming the presenter before ending their call.

As focus switched to in-ring activities, Paul got the job done beating the Mexican in a difficult affair to watch.

He failed to deliver the spectacular KO he promised, but was able to record arguably a career-best victory against a former world champion.

But having been booed by the crowd in the arena, Morgan saw his opportunity to put the boot in.

He wrote on social media: “BREAKING: I had a better fight with Jake Paul on Thursday than the unwatchable farce that took place tonight.

“The guy’s lining his pockets with buckets of $$$$.

“But he’s killing boxing with this boring staged bulls**t against older fighters way past their prime.”

Chavez Jr has a high level of experience in boxing, having fought the likes of Canelo Alvarez during his time at the elite level.

But the Mexican is seen as far from the peak of his powers, and many suggested Paul was deliberately catching him at the right time of his career.

And so it proved, with Chavez Jr hardly even throwing a single punch during a lacklustre opening half of the contest.

He came on stronger as the rounds went on and produced a gutsy effort in the final round, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Paul’s lead.

Paul now moves to 12-1 as a professional boxer, but his record has names with limited experience.

‘El Gallo’ is trying to prove himself in the traditional ranks, and wants to prove doubters wrong with an unlikely bid for a world title.

As a result of his victory, Paul believes he needs to be taken seriously, particularly after likely earning world rankings at cruiserweight.

The ambitious 28-year-old is keen to next face a host of champions including Gervonta Davis and Anthony Joshua.

Paul continues to stir up rivalries in his boxing careerGetty

He said post-fight: “I want tougher fighters. I want to be world champion.

“Zurdo [Gilberto Ramirez] looked slow as s**t tonight. That’d be easy work, too. [WBC cruiserweight champion] Badou Jack, I want everybody.

“Anthony Joshua, Gervonta [Davis] and Tommy [Fury], stop running.”
