CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — A man is facing charges after Ontario County sheriff’s deputies say he assaulted, restrained, and tried to choke a 16-year-old girl in Canandaigua.
Benjamin Alger, 51, of Schuyler County, is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, and unlawful imprisonment. He’s accused of assaulting the girl while he was responsible for her care and stopping her from leaving.
Deputies responded after getting a complaint from the Super 8 Motel. They say Alger put his hands around the teen’s throat.
The teen was taken to a local hospital. Alger was found in Schuyler County and transferred over to Ontario County deputies. He was arraigned in Ontario County Jail and is due in Canandaigua Town Court.
