The two new stars in Pittsburgh are looking to get on the same page.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers and wide receiver DK Metcalf are now teammates on the Steelers, looking to do something that the franchise has not done in almost a decade.
Win a playoff game.
The last postseason victory for Mike Tomlin and company came all the way back in 2016.
Steelers fans are hoping Rodgers and Metcalf can end the drought.
Pittsburgh traded for Metcalf in early March and then immediately signed the star wideout to a five-year, $150 million extension.
Meanwhile, Rodgers finally made his signing official with a one-year, $13.65 million contract.
The two seem to have already hit it off at mandatory minicamp.
“Just how cerebral he is,” Metcalf said of how Rodgers has impressed him.
“I like the way he views the game from a receiver’s standpoint, but also from a quarterback’s standpoint.
“I think I can gain a lot of knowledge just from being around him because he’s seen a lot of football.
“Just trying to soak up as much information as I can.”
Rodgers will be looking to capture his former glory after two lost seasons in New York The Steelers haven’t had a true star at WR since Antonio Brown, but they do nowGetty“How quickly he releases the ball,” Metcalf said of how Rodgers will help him.
“With me getting off the line of scrimmage fast, I think that’s one thing that stands out first.
“Also his playmaking ability when a play breaks down — he contorts his arm a different way just to get the ball out.
“I think he’s unique and I think it’s going to help not only me but a lot of receivers and tight ends.”
Meanwhile, Rodgers has been dealing with an issue that he isn’t too happy with.
He is upset that the type of helmet he has been accustomed to wearing is now banned.

Rodgers wore the Schutt Air XP Q11.
That helmet model was originally listed as “not recommended” last season, but has now been banned.
The four-time league MVP isn’t too pleased.
“I can’t stand the [new] helmet,” Rodgers said.
“I’ve worn a Schutt for 20 years and somehow it finally didn’t pass the safety standards.”
The NFL announced that they made this designation in the name of player safety.
“As helmet technology continues to improve, widespread adoption among players continues to make a difference,” NFL Chief Football Administrative Officer Dawn Aponte said, via NFL.com.
“Equipment staff at the club level serve a critical role in helping players understand the current offerings and work with them to select an option that levels up protection and offers a great fit.
“We are working closely with the clubs to support their efforts to move players into better-performing helmets.”
Clearly Rodgers disagrees.
Steelers fans won’t care what helmet Rodgers wears, as long as he is tossing touchdowns to Metcalf, and they are winning in January.
And that’s the plan.
