ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Stars from the indie cult classic “Napoleon Dynamite” made an appearance in Rochester for “Napoleon Night 2.0” at Innovative Field.
Efren Ramirez and Jon Gries, known for their roles as Pedro Sanchez and Uncle Rico, threw the first pitch at the Red Wings game.
“You know that when you’re making an independent film, you don’t know if it’s ever going to be distributed,” Gries said.
“That’s the chance you take, but you do it because you love to do it. You love to do the work,” said Gries.
Ramirez expressed excitement about the film’s lasting impact. “It’s really nice to see not only people who were born before the film but to see teenagers who were born after the movie, the fact that they’re wearing Vote for Pedro T-shirts, or they’re fans themselves because they could relate to each character,” Ramirez said.
The Red Wings faced the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, but unfortunately lost the game 18-0.
