Pittsburgh Steelers tipped to trade for $56 million Pro-Bowl wideout as Aaron Rodgers brand new superstar target

THE Pittsburgh Steelers have been predicted to trade for a two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver.

The $56 million player would be a welcome addition for Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers’ offense.

The Steelers signed the 41-year-old Rodgers to a one-year deal worth up to $19.5 million last week.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the Steelers are looking to add “one more weapon” to a receiver group that is led by offseason addition star DK Metcalf.

The Washington Commanders are in a contract dispute with star Terry McLaurin, who is considering sitting out to try and get a new deal.

With mandatory minicamp set to begin this week, Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox suggested a trade that would send McLaurin to the Steelers in exchange for a 2026 first-round pick and a fifth-round selection in 2027.

Knox noted that the Steelers would be a fit for McLaurin due to the roster’s layout after trading away George Pickens in May.

“While the Steelers traded for Metcalf this offseason, they also dealt George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys. While a lineup of Metcalf, Robert Woods, Calvin Austin III, and tight end Pat Freiermuth is respectable, Pittsburgh could use a playmaker like McLaurin,” Knox wrote.

“And if the Steelers were ever going to go all-in on a season, this is the one.

“On Friday they made their one-year deal with quarterback Aaron Rodgers official.

“… If the Steelers hope to make a legitimate run at a Super Bowl with Rodgers, however, they should look for all of the receiver help they can get.

“McLaurin, who is a pristine route-runner who can attack all areas of the field, would complement Rodgers well.”

McLaurin has averaged over 1,000 yards per season in his career.

He’s coming off his second Pro Bowl campaign and is looking to secure a contract.

However, McLaurin has been “frustrated with the lack of progress” on a new deal and “unexpectedly” left Organized Team Activities (OTAs) last week, per NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

Still, the 29-year-old has yet to request a trade.

And it will likely take an overpay to convince the Commanders to trade their No. 1 wide receiver, something the Steelers likely wouldn’t do.

The Steelers have already given Metcalf a five-year contract extension worth $150 million.

They would have to extend McLaurin to a massive deal, making it a second wideout that has a large contract, something the Steelers aren’t used to.

The Steelers are more of a fit for trade candidates like tight ends Jonnu Smith, Kyle Pitts, and wide receiver Allen Lazard, all of whom have been linked with the team.
