Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer was seen scolding Shashank Singh during the post-match handshake of Qualifier 2 on June 1. After the incident, some fans have been trolling Iyer, but Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan backed Iyer for his angry reaction in Ahmedabad.
Shashank was dismissed at a crucial point of the match, when his side needed 38 runs for victory. Shashank was taken out because of poor running, and after the match, Iyer gave him an angry reaction.

Irfan Pathan backed Shreyas Iyer by stating that when there was a need to have a go at players, one must not be hesitant to do so. Iyer’s scolding was needed as Shashank wasn’t running properly between the wickets in an important game.
"Many people are saying that he shouldn't have gotten that angry. I have played a lot of cricket with MS Dhoni. He is called cool, calm and composed. But he has also scolded many players. When the time comes, you should scold as well," he said on his YouTube channel.
Irfan also revealed that MS Dhoni is cool and calm, but he also scolded many players. Dhoni lost his calm many times.
Shashank was casually running in Qualifier 2, which angered Iyer more after the match. Pathan added that no skipper will tell you to get out by trying a boundary, but if you are taking the game casually, then the skipper has the right to scold you as well.

Shreyas Iyer loses his cool
Iyer was calm throughout his innings, but when the match got over, he lost his cool and mouthed a few words in anger to Shashank.
Shashank was dismissed for just two runs in three balls when the team required 35 runs in 20 balls, and a direct hit from Hardik Pandya at mid-off ended Shashank’s innings in an important game.

Shashank wasn’t scolded by Iyer just because he ran out, but he was running very casually on the ground. He increased his speed when he saw Pandya charging at the ball, but it was too late for him.
