Former Tennessee offensive lineman Jackson Lampley is reportedly getting into the world of coaching, and he’s doing so on a big-time staff in the SEC.
According to John Brice with Football Scoop, Lampley is joining the staff of Brian Kelly at LSU ahead of the 2025 season. Brice reports that the role for Lampley will be that of an offensive intern for the Tigers in what is shaping up to be a season full of high expectations in Baton Rouge.
While the opportunity is a major one for Lampley, it is a significant adjustment after he continued the Vol legacy within his family. His father, Brad Lampley, played for Tennessee in the 1990s.
As a prospect, Jackson was a 4-star recruit out of Nashville’s Montgomery Bell Academy. He was rated the No. 8 recruit from the state of Tennessee in the 2019 recruiting class and opted for the Vols over other major offers.
Once in Knoxville, Lampley would appear in 52 career games with 3 starts, mostly in action at guard and on special teams. He was a 5-time SEC Academic Honor Roll recipient and helped Josh Heupel and the Vols reach their first-ever College Football Playoff this past season.
Now, after a 6-year career on Rocky Top, Lampley will try to make his mark as a coach, beginning with a stint in Baton Rouge.
