County officials are making it easier for citizens to speak at board meetings by changing the speaker registration process.
Until now, residents who wanted to speak at a San Diego County Board of Supervisors meeting had to fill out a speaker slip, either in-person or online, before the meeting started.
Starting April 2, residents will be able to submit a simplified online speaker slip any time before the Board starts taking public comments during the meeting.
The new online system will call residents who planned on speaking by phone when the meeting starts and send real-time notifications about where the user is in line to talk on the items they’ve selected to speak about.
The County Clerk of the Board of Supervisors will host three informational webinars to demonstrate how the new system works and answer questions.
Saturday, April 5 at 10:00 a.m. (Zoom registration link) Monday, April 7 at 12:00 p.m. (Zoom registration link) Monday, April 7 at 7:00 p.m. (Zoom registration link)For more information, visit the County Clerk’s website or watch an instructional video.
County staff will also be available at Board of Supervisors meetings to provide on-site assistance.
