Police: Oakland man posed as utility worker and burglarized Marin County home

Authorities arrested an Oakland man who allegedly burglarized a Fairfax home.

Police were alerted on Tuesday by a resident on Maple Avenue. The caller encountered a visitor who appeared to be posing as a utility worker. Detective Shelby Jones said that another resident contacted police about a suspect matching the same description.

The suspect is accused of entering the resident’s home and stealing an envelope containing $7,000 in cash and a $2,400 check, Jones said.     David Juarez, 19, was arrested on suspicion of burglary and grand theft. The suspect posted a $50,000 bail and was released from the Marin County Jail on Wednesday, sheriff’s Sgt. Adam Schermerhorn said. Juarez could not be reached for comment.
