MANTECA – Manteca has started a new red-light traffic safety program to enhance safety and is giving drivers a warning period to adjust their driving habits.
The police department said the program is active at the intersection of Daniels Street and Airport Way.
Until March 17, drivers caught running a red light will receive a warning notice instead of a citation. After the warning period, drivers will be issued $490 fines.
Manteca police said the initiative aims to enhance safety.
"We want the public to know how seriously we take this growing issue," Manteca Police Chief Stephen Schluer said. "This warning period will give our community plenty of time to change their driving behavior before risking fines."
