Highland Park residents asked to shelter in place as police search for 2 persons of interests

Residents living in a part of Highland Park were advised to shelter indoors as police sought two persons of interest in a shooting, authorities said.

The city of Highland Park said at around 8 p.m., officers were conducting a shooting investigation in the 300 block of Walker Avenue. Residents in the immediate area were asked to shelter in place, while others were urged to avoid the area.

    Police advised residents not to open doors or windows to unexpected visitors – and to call 911 with any concerns.

    In an update, police released images of two persons of interest who were seen talking with the victim prior to the shooting.

    Authorities said one person was injured and being transported to receive medical treatment, but didn’t provide additional details.
