Ketel Marte paces Diamondbacks in MLB Network’s top 100 ranking

Diamondbacks star Ketel Marte leads the way for the Arizona Diamondbacks in the MLB Network’s running top 100 ranking ahead of the 2025 season.

In the list’s unveiling of spots 11-20 on Wednesday night, Marte came in No. 18. He was sandwiched between Texas’ Corey Seager and Phillies’ Zack Wheeler.

It’s a massive jump from last year’s No. 65 ranking for the second baseman, who finished third in NL MVP voting, was a finalist for a Gold Glove and took home his first career Silver Slugger.

That’ll happen after recording 36 home runs — nine of which came in the ninth inning of games — while slashing .292/.372/.560 with a .932 OPS (seventh in MLB). Defensively, he produced eight outs above average.

Ketel Marte not the only Diamondbacks player among MLB Network’s top 100

Marte might be the highest ranked Diamondback with 10 players still to be revealed Thursday, but he’s not the only one to crack the list.

Not far behind Marte sits new D-backs starting pitcher Corbin Burnes.

Burnes moved up four spots from his 2024 ranking to No. 25 after going 15-9 with a 2.92 ERA and 1.096 WHIP with the Baltimore Orioles.

He now readies himself for Year 1 in Arizona after signing this offseason.

Just below Burnes is outfielder Corbin Carroll at No. 32.

Carroll fell 18 spots in this year’s ranking following an up-and-down season that turned around as 2024 rolled on.

After slashing .197/.282/.291 with a .573 OPS in the first 55 games of the year, Carroll figured things out across final 103 games.

From June on, Carroll slashed .250/.343/.505 with a .849 OPS. That second stretch looked much more like Carroll’s 2023 effort when he took home NL Rookie of the Year.

Rounding out the top 100 list for the D-backs is starting pitcher Zac Gallen.

Much like Carroll, Gallen saw a significant drop in the ranking, sitting at No. 76 after coming in at No. 31 the year prior.

Gallen posted a 14-6 record and a 3.65 ERA across 28 starts in 2024. His WHIP of 1.264 was one of the worst marks in his career, trailing only his 2021 mark of 1.294.
