The Infinity Towers were designed by US firm Studio Libeskind and local firm Gala for Architects for tech company Lingang.
The buildings have a total floor area of 77,000 sq m, and are linked by a bridge-cum-viewing platform on the 15th floor.
The buildings also act as a gateway to the “Flying Fish” digital technology complex that is being built in Shanghai’s Free Trade Zone, and its outdoor terrace has a circular water feature and a small park.
The zone, established in 2013, is to the southeast of the city, on a site alongside the Huangpu estuary. The fish-shaped tech centre will contain, among other things, a live-streaming base, and and cloud computing infrastructure.
The inspiration for the design came from the dances performed by mating cranes, and are intended to represent longevity, loyalty and wisdom.
