In a thrilling matchup in the NCAA March Madness tournament, Purdue emerged victorious over N.C. State with a final score of 63-50. The game was filled with intense moments and impressive displays of skill from both teams, but ultimately it was Purdue who came out on top.
Purdue's defense was particularly strong throughout the game, holding N.C. State to just 50 points and forcing numerous turnovers. Offensively, Purdue's players showcased their scoring ability with precise shooting and effective ball movement.
UConn, the defending national champions, will look to become the first program since Florida in 2007 to win back-to-back titles. The Huskies have reached the championship five previous times, winning every matchup.
Purdue has not won an NCAA Tournament.
Purdue (34-4) moves on to Monday night's final to play the winner of the later game between Alabama and defending champion UConn. N.C. State (26-15) ended its season two victories shy of a repeat of 1983, when it came through in nine straight must-win games to capture one of history's most unlikely titles.
Some might call this run by top-seeded Purdue unlikely, too. The program is in the Final Four for the first time since 1980, only one season after becoming the second top seed to fall in the first round.
Today's Final Four action begins with the Purdue Boilermakers taking on the NC State Wolfpack before the Alabama Crimson Tide and UConn Huskies face off in the second game. On the women's side, the Final Four is in the books but the national championship game between Iowa and undefeated South Carolina is set for tomorrow at 3 p.m. ET.
Purdue cruised past N.C. State 63-50 after another big game from All-American center Zach Edey. The 7-foot-4 Canadian finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds as the Boilermakers dominated on the inside. Purdue outrebounded its opponent 41-28 and also added 10 3-pointers.
The Boilermakers pulled away late in the second half, going on a 14-1 run with a little over four minutes remaining.
