The Premier League clash between West Ham and Tottenham ended in a 1-1 draw, with both teams showing determination and skill on the field. The match was a closely contested affair, with both sides creating numerous chances to score throughout the game.
West Ham took the lead early in the first half through a goal from Michail Antonio, who capitalized on a defensive error by Tottenham to put his team ahead. However, Tottenham fought back and equalized just before halftime through a well-taken goal from Lucas Moura.
Spurs had conceded the first goal in five of the previous six Premier League games before scoring in the fifth minute at West Ham. The Irons would level the line and surprisingly not allow another goal despite not keeping a clean sheet since January 2 and allowing 24 goals in the following 10 PL outings.
This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.
Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.
Postecoglou will have plenty of selection decisions on his hands as his squad will have had just two full days of recovery since their win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, although West Ham will also be in the same boat, having lost 4-3 at Newcastle United in the earlier kick-off on Saturday.
The Spurs boss could decide to bring Micky van de Ven back into his starting line-up after the Dutchman returned to the bench unused in the weekend's win, with Radu Dragusin keeping his place against Luton. Brennan Johnson will also be looking to get a start after another game-changing performance on Saturday.
The second half saw both teams pushing for a winner, but solid defending and some fine goalkeeping kept the score level until the final whistle. The draw was a fair result for both teams, as they showed great resilience and quality in what was an entertaining match for fans of both clubs.
