Danny Dyer is set to star in a new drama series from Channel 5 called Heat, in what will be his first role since leaving EastEnders at the end of 2022. For the second week running Channel 5 has brought us a thriller starring a former denizen of Albert Square. Last week’s Blindspot featured Ross Kemp’s return to acting seven years after we last saw Grant Mitchell in EastEnders. And last night’s drama series Heat witnessed Danny Dyer’s first acting job after his lengthy stint as Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter.
His new series which is set to air over four night from Tuesday, sees Danny portray Steve Cameron who's drama will unfold as his explosive family secrets come to light during a devastating bushfire in Australia.
Geographically at least, Heat couldn’t be much further away from Walford, being set and filmed in Australia. Genre-wise, it is closer to home, half thriller and half soap. Indeed, several of the actors have Neighbours on their CVs (but then the Aussie soap was almost that country’s national drama school).
While the drama is set in Australia, many viewers will undoubtedly be left wondering whether or not the filming for the series actually took place down under. Well, read on for everything you need to know about the filming locations of Channel 5's Heat. As for the locations themselves, much of the series is set in Brad (Darren McMullen) and Louise's (Jane Allsop) impressive new mansion, to which they invite over Steve (Danny Dyer) and his family for their summer holiday. We also get to explore the surrounding woodlands around the property, which turns out to be a popular walking trail just outside of Melbourne.
Danny Dyer said : "Steve does love his mate but [Brad]’s sort of branded as the better version of Steve. As an audience, you’re watching this unfold and towards the end, there’s a real role reversal.
"I think, hopefully, you’re rooting for Steve and you’re rooting for his marriage and everything. There’s an awkwardness there but there’s little glimpses of the love between these two people."
Heat is a four-part series and will air on Channel 5 all week at 9pm, the last episode will air on Friday, July 14. The series starts on Tuesday, July 11 at 9pm on Channel 5. It will air every night this week at the same time on the same channel.
