Doctor Who fans keep getting more and more reasons to tune into the upcoming season of hit Disney+ show Only Murders in the Building, as it is starting to look like a real crossover event.
That's because, as reported by Deadline, Peter Capaldi is joining the cast for season 6 as a recurring guest star, joining other Doctor Who icons David Tennant and Jodie Whittaker, who were previously announced.
Only Murders in the Building has become known for featuring a host of high profile guest stars each season, with figures such as Paul Rudd, Meryl Streep, Kumail Nanjiani, Christoph Waltz and Renée Zellweger having previously made appearances.
Season 6 will be set in London, hence the slew of British guest stars being announced. Others who will feature alongside Tennant, Capaldi and Whittaker are Nicola Coughlan, Richard Ayoade, Adrian Lukis, Kathryn Hunter, Jennifer Saunders, Sean Teale, Simone Ashley, Amar Chadha-Patel, Rhea Norwood, Matthew Beard and Sharon Horgan.
Martin Freeman, Geri Halliwell-Horner, Jamie Demetriou, Anjana Vasan, Jane Horrocks, Derek Jacobi and Lesley Nicol are also set to appear, as will Jim Broadbent, who notably also played the Doctor in a 1999 Comic Relief special, Doctor Who: The Curse of Fatal Death.
Little is currently known about the storyline for Only Murders in the Building season 6, but we do know that it will see Steve Martin's Charles, Martin Short's Oliver and Selena Gomez's Mabel venturing overseas for the first time, leaving New York City to investigate London’s newest mystery.
Capaldi's most recently been seen reprising his role as DCI Daniel Hegarty in Apple TV police drama Criminal Record.
He played the 12th Doctor in Doctor Who, while Whittaker played the 13th and Tennant played both the 10th and 14th incarnations.
The question is, who should we expect to be added to the cast next. When Ncuti Gatwa, Christopher Eccleston and Matt Smith get confirmed, we will know something is seriously afoot.
