Officials urged residents to ensure their pets’ vaccinations are up to date after a bat tested positive for rabies in a Chicago suburb on Thursday.
Cook County officials said the rabid bat was found on the 9800 block of South Pulaski Road in Oak Lawn.
“Ensure your pets are safe from rabies by staying current on their vaccinations,” officials said in a post on social media.
Cook County Animal and Rabies Control is hosting free rabies and microchips clinics until the end of October. Details can be found here.
