MP calls to amend Egypt’s financial guardianship law

Egyptian MP Reham Afifi, a member of the Senate, demanded that amendments be made to the law on financial guardianship, first issued back in the 1950s. Afifi explained that the law of guardianship over the money of minors, which is currently in force, faces many legislative shortcomings which requires revision. She noted that many widowed mothers suffer greatly after the death of their husbands in order to obtain the dues for their children, whether from the grandfather or the uncle. Afifi added that she is currently preparing a discussion request addressed to Justice Minister Omar Marawan, to be submitted after the holidays, including the need to amend the financial guardianship law issued
