Jamie Lee Curtis has issued an emotional tribute to her late mother Janet Leigh on the anniversary of the starlet’s passing.
In an Instagram post shared by Curtis this past weekend, the Freaky Friday star posted a photo of the Oscar-nominated Leigh in a bubble bath, complete with the caption, ““Long time gone this day. Love and misses to my mother.”
As viewers might recall, Leigh passed away on October 3, 2004 as a result of vasculitis, a medical condition that causes inflammation of the blood vessels. At the time of her death, Leigh was 77-years-old.
Curtis was born to Leigh and her father, fellow Hollywood icon Tony Curtis, on November 22, 1958. Her parents had been married in 1951, although they later divorced in 1962, just four years after Curtis’s birth.
Earlier this year, Curtis paid homage to her late older sister, Kelly, who passed on May 30, 2026 roughly a month shy from her 70th birthday.
“A warm aloha to my older sister, Kelly Lee Curtis,” her sister Jamie Lee said at the time. “She passed away this morning. In her home. In nature. At peace.”
“She was my first friend and lifelong confidant,” Curtis continued. “She was jaw droppingly beautiful, and a talented actress. She played a mean game of hearts, collected turtles, loved her family, nature, music, thrifting, travel, Facebook, and Pokémon Go.”
Among the most beloved and recognizable actresses of the mid 20th century, Leigh is known for appearing in a number of both dramatic and horror-centric roles, including her celebrated role in Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. For her work in the film, she won the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress, as well as earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
She also appeared in a number of similarly well-known movies throughout her life, later appearing with her daughter Jamie Lee in 1980’s The Fog and 1998’s Halloween H20: 20 Years Later.
