The search for the next James Bond is heating up, and British actor Callum Turner is once again at the center of speculation about who will take over the iconic role.
Turner, known for his roles in Masters of the Air and the Fantastic Beasts films, is reportedly among a small group of actors being considered to succeed Daniel Craig as 007.
According to an Oct. 23 report from Variety, final screen tests for the next James Bond were expected to begin in late October, with Turner and Slow Horses star Jack Lowden among the actors reportedly in the mix.
TheWrap also reported that Turner, Lowden and Josh O’Connor had received offers to participate in the final round of auditions, alongside an unidentified fourth actor.
And now, new reports suggest Turner may have taken another step toward landing the coveted role.
According to a Nov. 2 report from NME, the actor reportedly arrived at Bray Studios in Berkshire, England, on Oct. 30 for a screen test. The publication notes that speculation has intensified as industry observers await an official casting announcement.
But there’s another detail attracting attention.
Turner stepped down as a director of Twentytwo Films Limited, a production company he established with Dua Lipa, prompting speculation that he might be clearing his schedule for a major acting commitment.
However, the timing of that departure is important.
According to official UK Companies House records, Turner resigned from the company on Dec. 10, 2025, nearly 11 months before the latest Bond reports.
That means the resignation isn’t a newly announced career move, and there’s no confirmed connection between his departure from the company and the James Bond casting process.
For now, the identity of the next 007 remains a mystery.
Amazon MGM Studios has not officially announced Craig’s successor, and the reported screen tests do not guarantee that Turner or any other rumored contender will land the role.
The next James Bond film will be directed by Dune filmmaker Denis Villeneuve, with Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight writing the screenplay.
Craig last portrayed the British secret agent in 2021’s No Time to Die, ending his run as Bond after five films.
While fans continue to speculate about who will inherit the famous tuxedo, the latest audition reports suggest that the long-running search for the next James Bond may finally be approaching a decision.
