Rita Wilson Shares Throwback Story Attending Led Zeppelin Concert That Damaged Her ‘Ego’ ...Saudi Arabia

News by : (Parade) -

The ’70s were all about hard rockers taking over the charts and radio, and a Led Zeppelin show happened to be one of Rita Wilson‘s first-ever concerts that didn’t start off that well.

Led Zeppelin formed in 1968, and by 1973, they were hitting the road promoting some of their most well-known debut hits like “Good Times Bad Times.” The actor and singer, 70, happened to be one of the band’s fans when she was only a teenager.

She recalled to The Sunday Times how she attended her first-ever concert and Led Zeppelin show at the Forum in Los Angeles in 1973. Eager and ready to watch the band, the day didn’t start too great, as Wilson took a literal trip.

“I was 16 and went with two girlfriends. My mom had made my outfit: Hawaiian-print bell-bottom trousers and a crop top,” she recalled. “I wore cork-wedged sandals. We were so excited that we started running from the [parking lot] towards the venue, and you just do not run in wedge sandals. I faceplanted on the pavement.”

At that age, a teen’s priority is to look effortlessly cool, and Wilson admitted that her embarrassing moment ruined that chance. The actor admitted that, like any other teen, it ultimately bruised her ego.

“Anything that looked cool went straight out of the window,” she said. “Nothing was damaged except my ego, and the concert was incredible.”

Wilson has been a rock fan for as long as she can remember, and even recalls following the Beatles during their global fame in the ’60s into the ’70s. The Jingle All the Way star has never been shy about her love for rock music, and spoke about that very Led Zeppelin concert on Instagram.

At the time, the rock band had released their fifth studio album, Houses of the Holy. Songs like “The Song Remains the Same”, “The Rain Song,” and “No Quarter became live staples, as the album became one of the greatest of all time.

“My first concert was Led Zeppelin at the Los Angeles Forum. I went with two of my girlfriends who happened to be identical twins with gorgeous red hair. I still remember exactly what I wore,” said Wilson in her post, reminiscing about the nostalgia of performing as a singer herself.

Wilson included some throwback photos of her as a teen and the original concert poster for the band. Some may be stunned that tickets cost less than $10 in the ’70s. The actor even posted a photo of her posing just like Robert Plant in one of the band’s most iconic photos in front of the Starship tour airplane.
