Walsh will have Italian record holder Sara Curtis and Abbey Weitzeil to contend with in the 50 free, while her sister Alex Walsh will battle Douglass in the 200 IM.
Jordan Crooks and Caeleb Dressel, two of the most explosive sprinters in history, will cross paths for just the third time in the men’s 50 free. Brian Benzing and Molly Hannis lead the 50 breast fields, and world record holder Regan Smith has some serious competition in the 100 back from 50 back co-champions Katherine Berkoff and Claire Curzan, as well as Rhyan White and Isabelle Stadden.
Luke Hobson and Katie Ledecky are the top seeds in the 200 freestyle events, although Kieran Smith, Simone Manuel, and Aimee Canny will push them. Gretchen Walsh is back in the water as she doubles up with the 50 fly, while Caeleb Dressel is the top seed in the men’s event, although #5 seed Tyler Ray has won both fly events so far and beat Dressel head-to-head in the 100 fly this morning.
