This has the potential to be the most exciting match of the season so far, which is saying a lot after the last two meets have come down to the final relays.

Stanford Stanford Cal Cal NC State NC State Indiana IndianaMatch Scoring
Winner — 4 points 2nd — 3 points 3rd — 2 points 4th — 1 pointCurrent Standings
There is a lot on the line for this match. The winner will earn an automatic berth to the Championship and the rest of the teams will be fighting to earn as many points as possible to move onto the wildcard match.
Indiana currently holds a lead in the CSL standings, sitting at 4 points after they won the 1st match and scored 586.5 points to rank 3rd right now. They will add Owen McDonald to their winning match 1 lineup, but they have lost Kristina Paegle after issues with her eligibility lawsuit. Alex Shackell is a major athlete to watch tonight after she had an exceptional opening match.
Stanford sits just behind them in the rankings at 4th overall after they won a very tight and dramatic victory over Cal the last time the two teams met, scoring 550 total points. They will need to earn more points from the individual events tonight if they want to win rather than relying on relay disqualifications as we saw a few weeks ago.
NC State comes next in the rankings at 6th overall with 3 points. They finished 2nd at the 2nd CSL match to Virginia with their total of 556.5 points. They don’t have any major roster changes between the two meets, but the skins races will be huge for them, particularly on the men’s side, since they will likely get to choose the stroke.
Cal is ranked 7th in the CSL with 3 points after they finished 2nd to Stanford with 543.5 points two weeks ago. They added Rylee Erisman to the roster this time, but her older brother Ryan Erisman, who was phenomenal in the first match, will not be racing tonight, neither will Claire Weinstein.

Jackpots happen when the athlete who wins beats any of the athletes by a predetermined amount outlined in the rules here. The winner steals the points of all athletes who they beat by the margin.
If they only beat the 8th place athlete by the designated amount, they will earn 10 points. If they beat the 7th and 8th place athletes, they will earn 12 points etc. We will do our best to track it in the live recap, but the meet moves fast.
Scoring Note: DQs
The 3rd CSL match brought DQs into the forefront in a massive light after Stanford came out on top of Cal following jackpot DQ points in both of the final relays.
If an athlete/team is disqualified, the winner of the event steals their points, even if they came in under the jackpot threshold. This is true for both individual and relay events.
Athletes to Watch
Women
Alana Berlin (Stanford) — Alana Berlin shocked the Golden Bears in the 3rd match when she won the backstroke skins event. 100 back Caroline Bricker (Stanford) — Caroline Bricker struggled slightly in her junior season, but she has come back strong so far this season with a few major swims in her 1st CSL match a few weeks ago. 200 free, 200 fly, 200 IM Rylee Erisman (Cal) — Rylee Erisman was the #1 recruit in the class of 2026 and she will be making her NCAA debut after she missed the last match. 100 free, 200 back Mia West (Cal) — Junior Mia West was another top scorer at Cal and Stanford‘s last CSL match, and her continued point scoring will be crucial tonight. 100 IM, 200 IM Leah Shackley (NC State) — Shackley was NC State‘s highest female point scorer in the 2nd match against Virginia, picking up major points with a few strong swims, particularly in the 100 back. 100 back, 200 back, 100 fly Eneli Jefimova (NC State) — Jefimova was electric last match, and while she did not score as many points as her counterparts, she was a crucial member of NC State‘s medley relays, and she picked up jackpot points in the 200 breaststroke 100 breast, 200 breast Alex Shackell (Indiana) — The MVP of the 1st CSL match, Alex Shackell was phenomenal, winning all four rounds of butterfly skins while descending the 50s. If the skins race ends up being freestyle or butterfly tonight, Shackell will be a major athlete to watch. 100 fly, 200 fly Miranda Grana (Indiana) — Grana was another headline maker in the 1st CSL match with her exceptional 200 backstroke to open the NCAA season. 100 back, 200 back, 100 flyMen
Daniel Li (Stanford) — Daniel Li challenged Yamato Okadome on a few occasions in the men’s breaststroke races a few weeks ago and will get the opportunity to take down the reigning NCAA Champion again tonight. 200 breast, 100 breast Ethan Ekk (Stanford) — Ekk was Stanford‘s 2nd highest male point scorer with 45.5 points last match, and the highest point scorer who did not race the skins events. 100 back, 200 back Yamato Okadome (Cal) — Okadome is the reigning breaststroke NCAA Champion and he was undefeated in breaststroke events last match. 100 breast, 200 breast, 100 IM Baylor Stanton (Cal) — Freshman Baylor Stanton had a very strong opening meet for Cal and will be trying to repeat his top finishes again tonight. 200 back, 100 IM, 200 IM Kaii Winkler (NC State) — Winkler was the skins victor last time NC State raced in the CSL and it seems likely they will get to choose the skins stroke again, and freestyle is a solid bet to earn him another 38 point skins win. 100 IM, 100 fly Quintin McCarty (NC State) — McCarty finished 2nd in the skins race last time and is another potentially big point scorer for the Wolfpack tonight. 50 free, 100 free Owen McDonald (Indiana) — This will be McDonald’s first CSL meet after he missed the 1st one. He recently received a 5th year of eligibility and will be a big piece of Indiana‘s title hunt. 100 fly, 100 IM, 200 IM Raekwon Noel (Indiana) — Raekwon Noel earned jackpots in both backstroke races last time, though he will have steeper backstroke competition tonight. Women
100 Breaststroke — Addie Robillard, Silje Slyngstadli, Eneli Jefimova, and Anita Bottazzo will all be racing in the women’s 100 breaststroke. 100 IM — Almost every athlete in the women’s 100 IM is a strong contender for the win, and it has the potential to be an incredibly exciting race. 100 Backstroke — The women’s 100 backstroke will feature Alana Berlin, Mary-Ambre Moluh, Leah Shackley, Erika Pelaez, and Miranda Grana, who are all potential NCAA ‘A’ finalists in the event. 100 Freestyle — Rylee Erisman and Liberty Clark will lead the women’s 100 freestyle field as they meet for the first time in SCY since Clark’s breakout season last year.Men
200 Breaststroke — Just like last time Cal and Stanford raced, Daniel Li and Yamato Okadome will race, but Josh Bey is being added to the mix and any of the three could earn the win as the CSL record is in serious jeopardy. 100 Backstroke — Most of the athletes in the men’s 100 backstroke are potential event champions. 200 IM — Owen McDonald, Josh Bey, Daniel Diehl, Baylor Stanton, and Ethan Ekk will be racing in what could be a very close men’s 200 IM heat. 200 Freestyle — Ryan Erisman will not be racing, but Henry McFadden, Keaton Jones, and Daniel Diehl will be trying to earn the last individual event win of the night before the relays can make a major point different.SwimSwam’s Prediction
It is very difficult to predict a winner for this meet. Any of the four teams could realistically walk home with the win, and with a spot in the championship match on the line, they will all be fighting hard for it.
Indiana was exceptional in the first match, and it seems like it will come down to them or Cal, particularly with Cal bringing Erisman onto their women’s relays this time. Indiana is going to earn a slight edge because of their proven CSL success.
Stanford could earn the win again, but it took two relay DQs last time, along with some major missteps by Cal.
NC State is another wild card with some of the strongest male sprinters in the NCAA, they could pick up major points in spots where the other teams are a little weak.
