Gabe Poirot has a message of hope for anyone who has ever wondered what heaven might be like.
The Christian YouTuber, who has more than 2 million subscribers, recently found himself back in the spotlight after an interview about the extraordinary experience he says he had following a near-fatal accident in 2021.
Poirot was 20 when he suffered a traumatic brain injury after falling from an electric skateboard traveling at around 30 mph. He ultimately spent 18 days in a coma.
During that time, Poirot says he experienced heaven and came face-to-face with Jesus. While sharing details of what he remembers, he described Jesus as about 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall, with darker, Middle Eastern-toned skin and medium-length, slightly curly hair. Poirot has also said he believes the Shroud of Turin offers one of the closest representations of Jesus, while emphasizing that no physical image could fully capture what he experienced.
But for Poirot, the most meaningful part of the experience wasn’t necessarily what Jesus looked like.
It was what he says he felt.
In an interview with Fox News, he described heaven as a place filled with “pure glory, pure light, pure love” and said that seeing Jesus “changed everything.”
Poirot believes the prayers of his family, friends and community played a profound role in his recovery. According to him, he could see those prayers from heaven and believes they ultimately helped bring him back.
After waking, Poirot said he felt like a “foreigner” in his own body because of how different his experience had been. Yet he soon began sharing his story and encouraging others through his faith.
