Nationals qualifier Jayla Kuzak has announced her verbal commitment to swim and study at the University of Pittsburgh beginning in the fall of 2027. She publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:
I am incredibly excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Pittsburgh where I will continue my academic and athletic career! I am so grateful for this opportunity, and give my biggest thanks to my parents, my family, friends, and to all of the coaches that have supported me throughout my life. I am also so thankful to Coach Ian and the rest of the coaching staff for giving me this wonderful opportunity, and am honored to join their team next year. Hail to Pitt!!

A senior at Ann Arbor Pioneer High School in Michigan, Kuzak does her year-round swimming with Livonia Community Swim Club, where she primarily specializes in middle-distance freestyle, butterfly, and IM. She is coming off a breakthrough 2025-26 season that saw her drop nearly ten seconds in the 500 free, over five seconds in the 400 IM, about three seconds in the 200 free and 200 fly, over two seconds in the 200 IM, more than a second and a half in the 100 fly, and just over half a second in the 100 free.
Kuzak set all of her current lifetime bests (shown below) at various in-season meets between November and March. Throughout her career, she has qualified for Junior and Senior Nationals in both short course yards and long course meters. Over the summer, she competed at the U.S. National Championships (LCM), which doubled as the qualifier for the World Championships, placing 47th in the 400 IM (5:01.08), 53rd in the 200 fly (2:21.11), and 56th in the 200 IM (2:23.19).

Sanders’ current personal best in the 200 fly matches the cutoff time for the ‘C’ final needed in 2026, setting her up to be an immediate contributor with still two full seasons of training still ahead before lining up at her first conference meet.
Sanders joins Aubrey Buchanan, Olivia George, Karina Miller, and Janae Sanders in committing to the Panthers’ class of 2031 so far.
