A type of the highly popular mystery squishy dumpling toys was recalled on Thursday because they pose a potentially deadly hazard to children, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said.
Florida-based Toyworld168 Inc. recalled its Rainbow Mystery Squishy Bun Toys because the water beads inside the dumplings can expand larger than permitted by the mandatory safety standard for toys, USCPSC said.
“If a water bead is ingested, it can pose ingestion, choking and intestinal obstruction hazards inside a child’s body, resulting in severe discomfort, vomiting, dehydration and a risk of death to a child,” the refund stated.
The recalled squishy bun toys have a cartoon face, are a translucent green color and are filled with glitter and water beads.

Squishy buns like those recalled have become very popular among kids and are frequently featured in viral “unboxing” videos where people guess the color of the mystery squishy bun before opening its faux bamboo steamer.
Anyone with the buns subject to the recall should stop using them immediately and contact Toyworld168 for a full refund, the recall alert states.
“Consumers will be asked to write “RECALLED” in permanent marker on the squeezy dumpling and its tan plastic container, throw the toy away and email a photo of the disposed toy to toyworld16850@gmail.com,” according to the recall.
No injuries have been reported.
