Kromah has been the star for this offense so far, rushing for over a hundred yards in both games this season and averaging 6.4 yards per carry, ranking 7th in the country among rushers with at least 30 attempts.
The Florida State offense will face its biggest challenge thus far on Saturday, playing one of, if not the best defenses in the country.
Through two games, the Alabama defense ranks sixth in the country in opponent yards per game and, more impressively, first in the country in third-down conversion rate, allowing only one third-down conversion on 23 attempts.
“When you can make a quarterback uncomfortable, it changes the entire dynamic of the game,” Wommack said. “We’re taking steps in the right direction on third down.”
The defense also ranks sixth in yards per rush attempt and fifth in opponent rush yards per game.
“I’m having a blast with these guys; I’m having the most fun I’ve ever had coaching,” Wommack said.
With Florida State’s identity built on running the ball, they face a major challenge not only against Alabama’s defense, but also going on the road.
The Seminoles ran 49 times for 230 yards against Kane Wommack and this Alabama defense last year in their 31-17 win.
“This is a new team, but there are a lot of players and coaches who remember what it felt like walking off of that field,” said head coach Kalen DeBoer when asked whether the team was treating this game like a revenge game.
