ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester City School District is holding a series of meetings to discuss plans for its seven schools under receivership and to get feedback from the community.
New York State puts schools under receivership if they’ve been “struggling” or “persistently struggling” academically. If the school fails to meet the academic targets in one or two years, an outsider receiver will be appointed to take over these schools.
During the meetings, district leaders will speak about current school performance and outline the receivership framework. The first receivership meeting was held at the Dr. Iris J. Banister School No. 33 during a back-to-school event on Aug. 27. The next meeting is happening on Tuesday at School No. 16. Here’s the schedule:
