The 2026 Bank of America Chicago Marathon will once again step off in October, bringing millions to the city for the massive annual race.
The iconic event is expected to not only set attendance records, but could bring yet another year of record-breaking finishes while raising millions for charity.
This year’s lineup will feature “one of the deepest fields in race history.”
Here’s what to know about the race and timing of the events:
When is the 2026 Chicago Marathon?
The 48th annual running of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon is set to step off on Oct. 11 with more than 55,000 runners.
Where is the 2026 Chicago Marathon?
Starting and ending in Grant Park, the 26.2-mile course takes participants on a loop through parts of the city’s downtown, North, West and South Sides.

What time is the 2026 Chicago Marathon?
Marathon weekend will actually begin with the Abbott Health & Fitness Expo, beginning Oct. 8.
On race day, the first racers will step off at 7:20 a.m., with the wheelchair athletes kicking off the event.
The first wave of runners will begin at 7:30 a.m., with the final wave starting at 8:35 a.m.
The course has a time limit of six hours and 30 minutes. That’s when roads will re-open for traffic.
