‘The Challenge: Cutthroat’ Winner Tori Deal Fires Back at Claims Her Team’s $550,000 Win Was ‘Rigged’ ...Saudi Arabia

Tori Deal isn’t letting fans take away her win.

“The Challenge: Cutthroat” champion is pushing back on accusations that the Season 42 finale was rigged in her team’s favor. In an exclusive interview with Page Six after Wednesday’s finale, Deal, 33, said the claims ignore just how grueling the final race was.

“Rigged makes me feel like I didn’t have to actually run 27 miles,” she said, calling the final one of the hardest things she has ever done.

The controversy stems from a moment during the final, when the Orange Team, made up of Deal, Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio, CT Tamburello, Michele Fitzgerald and Will Gagnon, was not penalized after Tamburello needed medical attention in the extreme heat. Tamburello was evaluated and allowed to rejoin his team at a later checkpoint without a time penalty, and the Orange Team went on to beat the Gray Team of Adrienne Naylor, Alexis Lete, Cassidy Clark and Cara Maria Sorbello.

Fans online accused production of rigging the outcome so the franchise veterans on the Orange Team would win.

Deal explained that contestants don’t get the full rules before competitions, especially since the show moved from MTV to Paramount+ this season. She said the players did know that a medical disqualification would not count against a team, and suggested the medical evaluation period served as a kind of buffer. She argued that the evaluation process, not her team, is what critics should be focusing on.

The Orange Team collectively took home $550,000. As captain, Deal chose to split the money equally with her teammates, but not before playfully taking a $1 “captain’s fee” from each of them, leaving her with $110,004.

Deal revealed she planned the twist three weeks in advance, saying she wanted to make her teammates nervous. She joked that they made her swear on her cat’s life that she wouldn’t steal any of their money.

Some fans had hoped she would take Devenanzio’s share and give it to Sarah Rice, a nod to the infamous moment in 2016 when Devenanzio stole $275,000 from Rice on “The Challenge: Rivals III.” Deal said she wasn’t part of that situation and wasn’t going to deliver someone else’s karma.
