A crash in the northwest suburbs was snarling the Thursday morning rush hour commute, with “huge delays” for drivers coming east from Barrington and Hoffman Estates.
The crash, on the Jane Addams Tollway (I-90) eastbound near Beverly Road, occurred about 5:48 a.m. According to Illinois State Police, a pickup truck slammed into the back of a semi truck on the shoulder.
“The semi was parked on the side with its flashers on,” NBC 5 traffic reporter Kye Martin said. The driver of the pickup was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries, ISP said.
Photos and video from the scene show a pickup truck and Walmart semi truck were part of the crash, with debris scattered across the road. According to ISP, one lane is currently shut down.
The crash was leading to “huge backups and delays” for drivers coming in from Hoffman Estates, Martin said.
