After a few weeks of waiting for some news, the Denver Nuggets are adding some scoring to their bench unit through an overseas acquisition.
According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the Nuggets are signing Lonnie Walker IV to a one-year contract. Walker previously played in Israel for Maccabi Tel Aviv in Euroleague competition.

Walker, 27, previously played in the NBA in the 2024-25 season for the Philadelphia 76ers as a bench scoring wing. After spending four full seasons with the San Antonio Spurs, Walker bounced around the league as a scoring/slashing specialist.
After playing for Zalgiris to start 2024-25, Walker signed in Philadelphia after the 2024-25 All-Star break, playing just 20 games while filling in for an exceptionally injured roster.
Walker went back overseas for the 2025-26 season with Maccabi Tel Aviv, averaging 15.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists while shooting 39.4% from the field and 35.1% from three. Walker also averaged 4.6 free throw attempts per game and was one of the better players at getting to the free throw line.
The Nuggets still have questions on their bench from a scoring perspective, especially if they aren’t done making moves after a decision is made on Peyton Watson’s free agency. Right now, Julian Strawther and Marvin Bagley III are likely Denver’s best bench scorers. If Strawther in particular were to sustain an injury, Denver’s options for bench scoring are incredibly limited.
Walker is an option for the team to utilize, especially if injuries occur. He likely isn’t someone who will play every night, but given that he has averaged 10.0 points per game across 342 career games at the NBA, it’s safe to say he’s a capable scorer the team can go to every now and then.
With Walker’s signing, the Nuggets have 14 guaranteed players on their full-time roster. Bryce Hopkins remains unsigned but is significantly more likely to fill a two-way contract now. Peyton Watson also remains unsigned, but his situation is well documented.
We will see what Walker brings the table and just how often he plays in head coach David Adelman’s regular rotation.
