Chicago Bears Injury Report: Six Players Listed As DNP ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

The Chicago Bears did not practice on Thursday, so their first injury report ahead of the Week 3 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles is only an estimate of who would have participated. That said, it still isn’t pretty.

As expected, quarterback Caleb Williams (hamstring) would have been listed as a non-participant. The same goes for backup Tyson Bagent, who is in the NFL’s concussion protocol. But if there had been a full practice, four other Bears players would have been listed with DNPs next to their names on the injury report, which is a cause for concern.

Here is the first injury report of the week:

A quick rundown of the rest of the injury report:

Running back Kyle Monangai wouldn’t have practiced on Thursday. Instead, he would have been listed as DNP due to a knee injury. Monangai ran for 100 yards in Week 1 and led the team in rushing in Week 2. The Bears need their ground game at full strength if they want to beat the Eagles (despite starting their third-string quarterback). The Monangai injury is worth watching this week. Also listed as “DNP” were defensive lineman Grady Jarrett (rest), kicker Cairo Santos (right hip), and cornerback Tyrique Stevenson. Jarrett getting a veteran’s rest day is of no concern. However, seeing Santos and Stevenson on the injury report is troubling. I wasn’t expecting Stevenson to practice after leaving Sunday’s Bears-Vikings game with a hamstring injury. He seems to be on a similar timeline to Caleb Williams. But kicker injuries, particularly a hip issue, give me pause. The Bears don’t have a backup kicker hanging around on their practice squad. If Santos misses another practice, I wouldn’t mind seeing some potential emergency options try out. Mandatory Credit: Bob Donnan-Imagn Images Linebacker Noah Sewell (Achilles) and defensive lineman Shemar Turner (knee) were both limited in their first appearance on the injury report since their 21-day practice windows opened this week. Both players are still on injured reserve/PUP. Cornerback Kyler Gordon remains missing in action. Not listed at all on the injury report is offensive tackle Ozzy Trapilo. This might be the most encouraging news to emerge from Thursday’s injury report. It sounds like he is getting close to being an option for the Bears’ O-line. Huzzah!
