It was announced just a couple of months ago that My Lady Jane and Sex Education star Bluemel will be taking the lead in Hercule, being no stranger to Agatha Christie adaptations after his stint in Agatha Christie's Seven Dials.
Whilst we don't yet have character details, it's been unveiled that Henry Ashton (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms), James D'Arcy (Oppenheimer), Calvin Demba (Supacell), Phil Dunning (Smoggie Queens) and Jack Gleeson (House of Guinness) will be joining Bluemel in Hercule.
Written by Benji Walters (Code of Silence), the new adaptation is set to chronicle the story of the world’s greatest detective and how he became it. Described as an "intimate study of Hercule Poirot the man and an epic portrait of Britain between the wars", the description continues: "The series will centre around three of Christie’s early stories, while also introducing Hercule Poirot to future friends and allies and one particular nemesis…"
The original David Suchet series aired on ITV from 1989 to 2013, with Bluemel now joining the likes of Albert Finney, Sir Peter Ustinov, Sir Kenneth Branagh, John Malkovich, Alfred Molina and Peter Dinklage who have all taken on the role in various film, TV and audio versions.

On the announcement of Bluemel leading the cast in June, James Prichard, executive producer for Agatha Christie Limited, said in a statement: "My father had the privilege of working with David Suchet for nearly 25 years, and I now have the good fortune of being able to share my great grandmother’s brilliant stories with a new generation of viewers.
There's no release date for the six-parter just yet, but we do know that filming is set to kick off soon, primarily in Liverpool.
