July 28-August 1, 2026 Irvine, CA — William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center LCM (50 meters) Meet Central Psych Sheet Live Results Live Stream Recaps Prelims: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4 Finals: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3Day four of the 2026 U.S. Nationals saw a few of the Pan Pacs qualifiers and University of Virginia athletes, race in the Time Trials following the session, including Gretchen and Alex Walsh, Maximus Williamson, and Thomas Heilman.
Gretchen Walsh set a lifetime best time in her 100 freestyle near the end of the session. She stopped the clock in 52.75, taking three hundredths off the 52.78 mark she swam at last year’s U.S. Nationals. She was out fast, splitting 24.94 on the opening 50 before coming home in 27.84. Her time would have been 2nd in the individual event, only behind Anna Moesch’s American Record swim of 51.88.

Alex Walsh, who turns 25-years-old today, kicked the group off with a 400 IM Time Trial. She was the only entrant in the 400 IM, but she swam against a trio of men’s 400 freestylers.
She stopped the clock in 4:41.82, about seven seconds off her lifetime best 4:34.46, which she set at the 2023 World Championships. She split 1:02.49/1:13.27/1:20.20/1:05.86 to come in about six seconds off her season best of 4:35.25, which she swam at the Settecolli Trophy at the end of June.
Her time would have been 6th in yesterday’s event final, just behind Emily Brown’s 4:41.19. You can watch Walsh’s race here.
Shortly after Walsh swam, Maximus Williamson raced the men’s 100 breaststroke. He won the event in 1:01.75, setting a new personal best time. His previous best was 1:03.47 from last month’s Indianapolis Pro Series. Prior to this season, he had not swum the event since July of 2022.
Williamson has now swum all four 100s of stroke this week, setting personal best times in all four. He swam the 100 free and 100 fly at Nationals, finishing 4th in the 100 free and 7th in the 100 fly and he time trialed the 100 back earlier this week.

He stopped the clock in 1:57.39, splitting 54.95/1:02.44 to finish about two and a half seconds off his best of 1:53.82. from July of 2023.
