Australian star Mollie O’Callaghan has withdrawn from the upcoming Pan Pacs Championships as she continues to deal with an ongoing back injury.
The news was first reported by Tom Decent of the Sydney Morning Herald on X.
Just in: Mollie O’Callaghan has pulled the pin on Pan Pacs next month in California. Due to the back issue she has been managing.

O’Callaghan revealed earlier in July that she has a stress fracture in her back but was still planning to race this summer at both the Commonwealth Games that just concluded in Glasgow and the upcoming Pan Pac Championships in Irvine, California.
The pool swimming portion of Pan Pacs will be August 12-15.
The Commonwealth Games had already emerged as a priority meet for Australia with AUD $1.2 million (about USD $700,000) in prize money awarded by patron Gina Rinehart.
O’Callaghan’s absence will further limit the starpower that Australia sends to America next month, with Kyle Chalmers, Cam McEvoy, Matthew Temple, Kaylee McKeown (sitting out the summer) and Shayna Jack (retirement) also skipping Pan Pacs.
In spite of the injury, O’Callaghan still piled up medals at the Commonwealth Games. She took silver in the 100 free (53.25) and gold in the 200 free (1:54.66), though both times were well short of her bests, and she also grabbed gold medals in all three Australian women’s relays (prelims only for the women’s races).
She did ultimately skip the backstroke races, in spite of big gold medal opportunities with the absence of Kaylee McKeown.
O’Callaghan is the owner of eight Olympic medals, including gold individually in the 200 free from the most recent Paris Games. She is also a 14-time World Champion (11 in long course, 3 in short course), and 9-time Commonwealth Games gold medalist.
She is the current World Record holder in three relays, the current World Record holder in the 200 free in short course, and formerly held the individual World Record in the 200 free in long course.
