The Islamic World Heritage Committee of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) has listed the Dendera Temple in Qena Governorate and historic houses in Rosetta, Beheira Governorate, on the Islamic World Heritage List.
This decision was made during the 13th session of the Islamic World Heritage Committee, held in Tashkent, in cooperation with the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture and the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
This achievement supports the vision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to bolster cultural identity and enhance the international presence of Egyptian heritage.
State efforts bear fruit
It also represents the culmination of state efforts to preserve its cultural heritage from various eras and strengthen its presence locally and abroad.
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research affirmed its continued support for the National Committee’s efforts to expand Egypt’s participation in the programs and activities of international organizations and to register more of its cultural and natural sites.
This will aid in strengthening the country’s soft power, and better consolidate its cultural standing globally.
The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, Hisham al-Leithy, explained that the Ministry of Tourism, represented by the Council, has prepared and submitted comprehensive scientific files for the registration of these sites.
These files address their unique archaeological and artistic value, document their architectural elements, alongside detailed reports on their current condition and efforts to preserve according to the highest international standards.
