TEMPE — When Jordyn Tyson attends the first round of the NFL Draft on April 23 in Pittsburgh, he’ll have some familiar faces with him. One of those faces will feel right at home in the Steel City.
Arizona State wide receivers coach Hines Ward — entering his third season in the role — is joining Tyson for the festivities in his old stomping grounds to support his first WR1 at ASU making the next step in his career.
Ward, who played 14 seasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers, admitted his bias that if Tyson was still on the board when Pittsburgh gets its turn to pick at No. 21 overall, “hell yeah” the coach would want to see Tyson in the black and gold.

“Wherever God wants him to be, it’ll be. And of course, I’m a little biased. … But I’m excited just to see,” Ward said. “I tell all the scouts and all the teams, whatever team ends up drafting him, you’re going to get a winner. I know the work that he’s put into it.”

And that’s where I learned a lot about JT’s toughness and who he is as a person. It sounded a lot like myself as a player.”
