Discover how Razer’s split keyboard and vertical mouse combine comfort, precision, and customization to enhance your workday.

Most of my life I’ve seen Razer exclusively as a gaming accessory company. Their premium products are designed to elevate the gaming experience to new levels. I’ve been a fan of Razer products for many years and have been proud to use their gear for more than just gaming. Since I work behind a computer for 8+ hours per day, I have to remind myself to prioritize comfort and ergonomics, choosing tools that reduce strain and keep me focused throughout the day.

Fortunately, Razer has a complete ergonomic setup as of today thanks to the launch of the Pro Type Ergo Wireless Split Ergonomic RGB Keyboard. It pairs quite nicely with the Pro Click V2 Wireless Mouse – Vertical Edition to ensure that you can work and play comfortably all day.

About the Razer Ergonomic Productivity Collection

With the Pro Type Ergo and Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition, Razer extends its focus beyond gaming and into full-time productivity. Both products are designed to prioritize comfort, posture, and efficiency, making them ideal for anyone who spends long hours at a desk. Each offers unique features that stand on their own while complementing each other as part of a complete ergonomic setup.

Razer Pro Type Ergo

The Pro Type Ergo is Razer’s first wireless split ergonomic keyboard. Its layout gently angles your hands into a more natural position, encouraging a posture that reduces wrist extension and forearm tension. With ultra low‑profile scissor switches, customizable tilt options, and an integrated plush wrist rest, it targets those who spend long hours typing and prefer a relaxed, comfortable feel. Razer’s Command Dial and dedicated macro keys bring deeper customization into creative and office workflows, and advanced RGB lighting gives it a premium finish.

User Experience

The keyboard and mouse are both expertly packaged in Razer-branded boxes. They are clearly marked and images of the products on the exterior of the boxes. This is always my preference as I don’t like to guess what I’m pulling off of a shelf. Because each device features tri-mode connectivity (wired, Bluetooth, or Razer HyperSpeed Wireless), both the mouse and keyboard are packaged with a USB-C to USB-A data/charging cable and a wireless dongle. One of the things I like about these devices is that they come equipped with places on the body of the device to store the USB dongle. That makes it much easier to keep track of the tiny receiver.

In order to provide a thorough look at each device, I tested several different aspects of them to provide a robust overview of the collection.

Razer Pro Type Ergo

I wasn’t sure how I would feel typing with a split ergonomic style keyboard. I’m so used to low profile keyboards and mechanical ones that I just didn’t think I would enjoy typing on the Pro Type Ergo. I have to admit that the design grew on me. There is a learning curve since typing is largely a muscle memory task and some of the keys are not quite where you expect them to be.

One of the tests I complete when reviewing a keyboard is a typing test using monkeytype.com. A typing test provides objective feedback on a keyboard’s speed, accuracy, and comfort under real-world conditions, revealing how its layout, key travel, and ergonomics affect prolonged use. It helps quantify performance differences that might not be obvious through casual typing alone.

I decided to wait to complete the typing test until I had used it for an extended period of time. My average typing speed is usually around 73-75 WPM and my accuracy is typically 98%+. I was not surprised when I completed the typing test and my speed was only 70 WPM and the accuracy was 95%. I’m sure that will improve with time and practice with the split layout.

Since I’ve used flat keyboards for so many years, I’m not sure how much the keyboard has improved wrist strain yet, but I did find it comfortable to type on. I love the feel of the keys. They have excellent rebound and tactile feedback, which makes the keystrokes feel precise and satisfying without requiring extra force.

One of the things that has been interesting to use is the dual B keys. I’m not entirely sure that I’ve even used the B with my left hand since my right almost always presses that key. But, it is quite strange to see a duplicate key on the keyboard.

Since I primarily use a macOS system, I have Synapse for Mac installed and I found it very easy to customize my keyboard layout. One of the features that I look for in a keyboard is dual system compatibility. The Pro Type Ergo has that functionality. To switch between the the two systems, you simply press FN + the Windows key. I do sort of wish there was an indicator on the keyboard that let you know what system you were currently on, but at least it switches easily.

I didn’t change many things about the setup, but I did program a couple of the M keys. I had M5 (the one at the top of the M column) to open my Home app and M4 is set to activate Caffeinated so that my MacBook Pro won’t go to sleep. I love being able to control those functions from the keyboard.

I also really love being able to set an option for the lighting to power off. When I leave my workspace for the night, I make sure the MacBook Pro can go to sleep. There are so many RGB keyboards that will continue with their lighting effects even if the computer is asleep. With Synapse, you can select to switch off the lighting when the display is turned off or when the keyboard is idle for so long.

Razer Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition

I’m still getting used to the handshake grip on the Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition. While it takes some retraining due to pre-programmed muscle memory from using traditional mice, the grip itself feels natural, and I really like the placement of all the buttons. At this point, I can’t fully judge how much it reduces wrist strain or forearm pronation, but it is comfortable to use so far. The mouse rests well in the palm, and even during short sessions, it doesn’t feel awkward or cramped, though I haven’t tested it extensively for smaller hands or very long periods yet.

The Pro Click V2 feels very responsive, quickly keeping up with all of my hand movements during normal work and creative tasks. I love how easy it is to adjust the DPI directly on the mouse or through Razer Synapse, with changes registering instantaneously. Whether I’m performing precise edits or moving across large screens, the input feels immediate, and overall it compares favorably to traditional mice for productivity tasks, offering both speed and accuracy without compromise.

The six programmable buttons on the Pro Click V2 are very intuitive, and assigning or adjusting them in Razer Synapse is straightforward. Macros and app-specific shortcuts are easy to set up and use, and the scroll wheel feels both precise and smooth. Synapse integration proves highly effective for enhancing productivity, allowing me to tailor the mouse to specific tasks and workflows. Connectivity has been flawless so far, with HyperSpeed Wireless and Bluetooth multi-device switching working seamlessly, and I haven’t noticed any latency or connection issues during regular use.

Conclusion

The Razer Pro Type Ergo keyboard and Pro Click V2 Vertical Edition mouse form a cohesive ergonomic duo that blends comfort, customization, and productivity. Both products are thoughtfully designed for long hours at a desk, with features that reduce strain while keeping performance high. While the split layout of the keyboard and handshake grip of the mouse require a short adjustment period, the overall experience makes the learning curve worthwhile. Together, they elevate the workspace into a setup that’s both functional and enjoyable for work or light creative use.
