CAIRO, March 15 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held talks on Sunday with Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassem Al Thani in Doha.
The talks focused on exchanging views and coordinating positions on the rapidly evolving regional developments.
Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Tamim Khallaf said, Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s full solidarity with Qatar in the face of Iranian threats and unjustified aggressions.
He reaffirmed Egypt’s strong condemnation of any attempts to target Qatar and destabilize its security, emphasizing the firm rejection of blatant violations that lack any justification and undermine peace and security in the region, the spokesman said.
Abdelatty extended heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Qatar for the victims of these condemned attacks, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured, Khallaf said.
He warned against continuing this escalatory approach, which threatens freedom of maritime navigation, vital installations and the widening of regional conflicts, the spokesman said.
He stressed the need for diplomatic efforts to immediately halt such practices, the spokesman added.
Abdelatty called for the urgent activation of joint Arab action frameworks and the establishment of deterrent mechanisms, particularly the Arab Joint Force, to provide an effective protection umbrella for Arab countries, Khallaf added.
Meanwhile, the Qatari premier expressed profound gratitude for Egypt’s unwavering political support, commending Egypt’s tireless efforts to de-escalate tensions and enhance Arab solidarity in the face of unprecedented challenges shaking the region.
The meeting also addressed ways to further strengthen and develop the distinguished bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries. (MENA)
