Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Expatriates Dr. Badr Abdelatty, held a phone call Friday with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Djibouti, Abdelkader Hussein Omar, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and exchange views on key regional issues.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister affirmed the depth of Egyptian-Djiboutian relations, praising the positive momentum currently characterizing ties between the two countries. He expressed appreciation for the mutual commitment to expanding frameworks of joint cooperation in ways that serve the shared interests of both nations, highlighting the importance of continuing to enhance economic, trade, and investment cooperation to benefit the two brotherly peoples.

Minister Abdelatty also stressed the importance of increasing trade exchange, supporting mutual investments, and opening the door for Egyptian companies to take advantage of opportunities available in the Djiboutian market—especially in the fields of infrastructure, logistics zones, energy, agriculture, and industry.

He emphasized the importance of continuing coordination to implement joint projects, in line with the importance Egypt attaches to strengthening trade relations between the two countries.

Regarding the situation in the Horn of Africa, Minister Abdelatty emphasized the importance of preserving the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of states and non-interference in their internal affairs.

He reiterated Egypt’s complete rejection and condemnation of Israel’s recognition of what is called “Somaliland,” stressing full support for the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.

He also rejected any unilateral actions that could undermine Somali sovereignty or weaken the foundations of stability in the country, considering such actions a violation of international law and a threat to the stability of the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region, while stressing support for Somalia’s legitimate state institutions.

The two ministers also exchanged views on the overall developments in the Horn of Africa, emphasizing the importance of continued coordination and consultation between the two countries regarding the challenges facing the region. Such cooperation, they noted, would contribute to supporting efforts to achieve peace, security, and stability and to strengthening joint African action, especially given the close link between the security of the Red Sea and the stability of the Horn.
