2026 BCA Winter Heats
January 31-February 1, 2026 Torrance, California Short Course Yards (25 yards), Timed Finals Meet Results12-year-old Jacob Lee from Rose Bowl Aquatics in Pasadena, California clawed his way up the all-time age group rankings last month in his penultimate meet before aging up.
Lee swam six individual events, winning them all and posting lifetime bests in five of them, at the BCA Winter Heats meet. That includes the 10th-best 50 yard breaststroke swim in 11-12 age group history.
Lee’s Results, and all-time 11-12 age group rankings:
50 free – 24.61 100 free – 54.63 (-0.69s) 200 free – 1:59.98 (-4.29s) 50 breast – 28.06 (-0.24s) – #10 100 breast – 1:01.44 (-0.57s) – #23 200 breast – 2:15.73 (-8.28s) – #47Less than a month later, but after his birthday, he dropped his 100 breaststroke time to 59.24 and his 200 time to 2:13.34 at the Pacific Swimming LSC Championships. Had he done those times just a couple of weeks earlier, they would have ranked 3rd and 12th in the 11-12 age group, respectively.
Lee’s progressions have been remarkable. Across a year from February 2025 to February 2026, he dropped his 100 breaststroke time by almost 7 seconds (1:06.10 to 59.24) and his 200 breaststroke time by 16.5 seconds (2:29.83 to 2:13.34).
Rose Bowl really went ham on the boys’ side of the breaststroke races at the Winter Heats meet across age groups. 16-year-old Nolan Yokoyama won the 13-and-over age group in 56.79, a new best time by .33 seconds; and Marcus Soetanto won the 10 & under age group in 1:13.94, dropping 2.46 seconds.
On the girls’ side of the meet, 15-year-old Junior National Team member Gabi Brito from Beach Cities Alpha raced as a warmup to Sectionals last weekend. She won the 200 free (1:46.07), 500 free (4:54.19), and 100 breast (1:03.10). Both freestyle races were best times for the sprint-geared Brito. She also finished 2nd in the 200 breast in a best time of 2:14.43.
