I have a feeling in my gut that tells me we might get some new Maxx Crosby rumors this week.
The NFL Scouting Combine begins this week in Indianapolis. And with it, a fresh batch of free agency and trade rumors will pop up throughout the week as members of front offices around the league descend upon Lucas Oil Stadium to check out the top 2026 NFL Draft prospects.
To this point, there has been no shortage of rumors about potential trade candidate Maxx Crosby. That Crosby had Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams on his podcast last week will only further fuel the chatter. But with that being said, it can be tough to decipher what is real and what is hopium-fueled.
Good thing ESPN has a quartet of reporters who offer up trade proposals that give us a better idea of which teams could be part of a Crosby sweepstakes and what it could cost to add the five-time Pro Bowl game-wrecking pass rusher.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Dan Graziano, Ben Solak, and Seth Walder cooked up some trade proposals involving Maxx Crosby. These suggestions range from fun to weird to head-scratching. Let’s discuss!
DALLAS COWBOYS
Raiders get: Wide receiver George Pickens, 2026 first-round pick (20th overall) Cowboys get: Maxx Crosby, 2026 second-round pick (36th overall)I’ll never forgive Cowboys owner Jerry Jones for handing Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers on a silver platter last summer. And if that move ultimately leads to Dallas swooping in and snatching Crosby when he would be a perfect trade fit for the Bears would make Jones a sworn enemy of mine.
With that being said, this proposal from Dan Graziano would be a landscape-shifting trade for both sides because it would legitimize the Cowboys defense and provide the Raiders with a legit WR1 for projected first overall pick Fernando Mendoza to throw to upon his arrival as Vegas’ starting quarterback.
TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
Raiders get: WR Chris Godwin, 2026 first-round pick (15th overall), 2027 second-round pick Buccaneers get: Maxx Crosby, 2027 fifth-round pickI wouldn’t have pegged the Buccaneers as a darkhorse in this race, but it would be foolish to underestimate the possility of two former coworkers hooking up on a trade. Raiders GM John Spytek worked for Bucs GM Jason Licht, so he would have inside knowledge as to what Chris Godwin could bring as a top receiver for Las Vegas’ new quarterback.
Adding two picks (including No. 15 overall) would also help kick-start the Raiders’ rebuild. I can see how Ben Solak put this one together. But I do not want to see Maxx Crosby (1) in the NFC or (2) on a team on the Bears’ 2026 schedule.

Raiders get: 2026 second-round pick (55th overall), 2026 sixth-round pick, 2027 fifth-round pick Chargers get: Maxx CrosbyThis is, hands down, the weirdest trade proposal of the bunch. Not only do I think the Raiders would turn this down faster than a Vegas slot machine can eat your cash, they would laugh it out of the room because it is the only submission that does not involve a future first-round pick. I cannot imagine the Raiders trading Crosby to a division rival *AND* doing so without getting a first-round pick back in return.
ESPN’s Seth Walder has his reasons for why he doesn’t offer a first-round pick in his trade presentation. It’s just that I don’t think that they are good.
CHICAGO BEARS
Raiders get: Wide receiver DJ Moore, a 2026 first-round pick (25th overall), and a 2027 third-round pick Bears get: Maxx CrosbyOh, yeah! We saved the best for last with the Bears offer. It isn’t too dissimilar to the proposal we discussed last week when trying to figure out if DJ Moore being part of a potential Maxx Crosby deal made sense.
Again, to be clear, I’m not trying to push Moore out the door. But in a world where you have to give something to get something, I can envision Moore being part of a package that Vegas could find to be alluring. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler points out this trade could clear up $16.5 million in cap space while taking on what’s left of Crosby’s three-year, $106.5 million deal. I find that information to be worthwhile and will be stored away in my brain for future reference.

All things being equal, three of these four trade proposls are sensible. I would even go as far as to say that they are fun. One of the proposals is weird, and (surprise!) it isn’t the one involving the Bears. The Raiders have not shown an indication that they want to trade Maxx Crosby. But if they do, you can expect more than four teams to be involved. And if the Bears aren’t one of them, I’d be disappointed.
