As the Olympics draw to a dramatic conclusion, the NHL is starting to crank things back up here at home. The Olympic trade freeze expires just before midnight in the Eastern time zone on Sunday night, and games get started in just a few days. Which makes today a great time to update our 2026 NHL Mock Draft!
We’re less than two weeks away from the NHL Trade Deadline, so there could be movement in the draft order in our mock draft in the coming weeks. That movement likely won’t wait until the last minute at the deadline; there could be moves before the games begin again later this week. And there has been come movement already with prospects whose names will be called in June.
A couple reminders before we jump into our two-round mock draft. First, there are only 31 picks in the first round of the 2026 NHL Draft. Ottawa forfeited their first-round pick because of the Evgenii Dadonov trade. Second, the standings reflected in the draft order are as of Feb. 5 — we’re giving the Florida Panthers ownership of the tenth overall selection in this mock draft. If they fall out of the top ten, the Chicago Blackhawks will own that selection.
