The Illinois native was drafted in the second round of the 2024 MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays, but elected to join the Wildcats instead of immediately turning pro. Bell made an immediate impact for Kentucky last season, slashing .296/.385/.552 with 46 RBIs and 10 homers.
A projected first-round draft pick this summer, Bell was expected to take an even bigger role for the Cats this season, but this injury has put a bit of a wrench into those plans. Now, Kentucky will have to navigate the foreseeable future without one of its best hitters.
