WEBSTER, N.Y. — The Webster Schroeder Warriors hockey team has been dominating the Section V, Class B league this season with an impressive 16-0 record. They are the only team in New York state with no losses or ties, and they have not gone into overtime once.
Head Coach David Broussard described the team as “extravagant.” Forward Nick Scott said, “I think definitely after our first couple games, everyone looked at us and were like, all right, like, we have the team this year. We are dominant. We control the game. Everyone’s just buying in,” Scott said.
The Warriors’ offense is averaging about four goals per game, while their defense is allowing less than one goal per contest. Scott emphasized the importance of getting in front of the net and creating chaos to score goals.
Goalie Julian McMahon expressed confidence in the team’s potential. “We started to get into it, be like, yeah, we can do it. This is our year. This is the year we want to go for it,” McMahon said.
Despite their success, the team remains focused on improvement. “We’re at the bottom. As far as I’m concerned, climbing the ladder and getting as high up to the top as we can get,” Broussard said.
The Warriors have four more regular-season games before the playoffs. Their next game is against Fairport at the Webster Ice Arena on Wednesday.
