David Pollack didn’t play college football that long ago, starring as an All-American defensive force at Georgia from 2001-04.
That’s within the past quarter-century, so we’re not talking about ancient times. But Pollack is 43 years old now, so he did play long enough ago for it to be far different times than what we have now in the sport. And now Pollack is known for giving his opinions on college football, as a former ESPN analyst who now does his own podcast called See Ball Get Ball.
Pollack now airs his thoughts on his podcast instead of on ESPN, and sometimes those thoughts are more like genuine frustrations. That was the case this week when, in the aftermath of the alleged tampering that’s invaded the sport in recent days, weeks and months, Pollack unleashed on how there is no NCAA enforcement regarding tampering and wondered why.
On a post on his social media account, Pollack wrote the headline: “If the NCAA won’t draw a line in the tampering sand, then it’s ruined the sport we all love.”
That was hardly all Pollack said about the tampering matter.
“If you don’t want to make this a line, so be it. But you just screwed college football,” Pollack said directly to the NCAA. “Because you gave every single person the right to do the same thing. I can go to any school at any time and purge from your roster. You signed him? Who cares. How is that healthy for anyone in our game? If the NCAA doesn’t do something, I quit with the NCAA. It’s just a bunch of bull crap.”
