Backstroke specialist Peyton Brooks will continue her swimming career at the University of Cincinnati in the fall of 2027. Brooks, who is from High Springs, Florida, currently competes for Buchholz High School and the Gator Swim Club.
Swimming runs in Brooks’ family. Her sister, Caitlin, also a backstroke specialist, competed at the University of Kentucky and most recently reached the ‘B’ final in the 200 back at the 2023 NCAA Division I Women’s Championship, placing 15th with a time of 1:52.96.

Brooks was a two-time finalist at the 2025 FHSAA Class 4A State Championship (SCY) in November, representing Buchholz High School. She placed 4th in both the 100 back (55.01) and the 100 fly (55.07), with her 100 fly time marking her lifetime best.
Brooks posted her fastest 100 back time of 54.83 at the 2025 FL GSC Holiday Classic (SCY) the following month, leading off Gator Swim Club’s 400 medley relay to victory. She also helped the team win the 400 free relay with her split of 51.77, finished as the runner-up in the 50 free (23.86), and competed in the 200 IM (2:09.85).
A few days later, Brooks set lifetime bests in the 50 free (23.63) and 200 back (2:01.89) at the Speedo Winter Junior Championship — East (SCY). She also competed in the 100 back (55.18) and 100 fly (56.55).
This past summer, Brooks was a finalist and posted several long-course personal bests at the Futures Championship in Greensboro. Individually, she finished 10th in the 50 fly (28.02), 17th in both the 50 back (30.12) and 100 fly (1:02.44), and 22nd in the 100 back (1:05.01). All of these marks are lifetime bests.

50 Free – 23.63 100 Back – 54.83 200 Back – 2:01.89 100 Fly – 55.07Cincinnati’s women’s team placed 6th out of 10 teams at the 2025 Big 12 Conference Championships. Brooks’ 100 back time would currently rank as the 7th-fastest all-time in program history for the Bearcats. The fastest 100 back last season for Cincinnati was posted by junior Grace Gavin (53.65), who also holds the school record at 53.46.
Brooks will join Hannah Parkin on campus in the fall of 2027. Parkin has posted similar times in the 50 free (23.74), 100 back (54.66), 200 back (2:03.57), and 100 fly (55.94).
