BRIGHTON, N.Y. — Residents in Brighton had the opportunity to express their views on a significant repaving project planned for one of the town’s busiest roads.
The town hosted an open house at Empire State University to gather public feedback on the upcoming work. The New York State Department of Transportation plans to repave Route 31 (Monroe Avenue) from the Rochester city line to I-590.
“It’s a very busy congested road that needs modernization and improvement to make it a more friendly road for pedestrians, bicycles and cars,” said John Osowski of Brighton.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2027 and continue through the winter of 2029.
